Commissioned for the February 2025 edition. We created one cover image and two spot illustrations. Following the trail to the dark heart of this fast-growing criminal enterprise: South East Asia's "pig-butchering" fraud factories, where social media scammers syphon the life savings of unsuspecting Americans. This vast network thrives on secure routes for trafficking something in almost limitless supply - human loneliness.

The first article examined the global race among tech companies to develop superintelligence and the calls from industry leaders for stronger governance. The second explored AI’s potential impact on the economy, including prospects for a new economic boom and its wider implications.
